When to Use Mepilex Border Sacrum

Treatment: Mepilex Border Sacrum is designed for medium-to-high exuding sacral wounds, including pressure ulcers and surgical excisions such as pilonidal cysts. This dressing creates a moist wound environment that supports the debridement process, which may cause an initial increase in the wound size. This is a normal part of the healing process and should be expected.

Pressure Ulcer Prevention: A recent randomized controlled trial in the USA showed that Mepilex Border Sacrum significantly reduces the occurrence of hospital-acquired pressure ulcers by 88%. It can be used prophylactically for patients at risk, such as those who are immobile, have poor skin perfusion, or suffer from impaired skin condition.
